Oil & Gas

The past few years have seen ELiTE deepen and further strengthen associations with the industry’s onshore and offshore sites.

Work has been extensive on a diversity of different projects and consultancy contracts demanding different key objective. Grangemouth — Britain’s largest processing site for North Sea oil resources – has been a primary site for ELiTE and work continues there with outstanding results.

Other sites include Aberdeen, BP’s Sullum Voe terminal in the Shetland Islands and Baku in Azerbaijan. ELiTE’s involvement with AIOC (Azerbaijan International Oil Company) in Baku is a long-term, ongoing and growing commitment.

Food & Beverage

ELiTE has worked extensively with a diversity of food and beverage producers, from smaller niche market players to major brand leaders.

ELiTE’s rigorous system of pre-testing has made trouble-free start-ups of new systems a matter of course. The company’s experience in the pharmaceuticals sector is not unrelated, and brings with it, for example, familiarity with Food and Drugs Authority validation and S88.01 requirements.

Its experience in meeting the criteria of the IEC 61508 family of safety standards often prove an asset in this sector where food safety and traceability issues are of growing importance. Top of page...

Paper

ELiTE Control Systems’ role in the paper sector has grown with recognition of its expertise in safety systems and its experience in meeting SIL evaluation standards and requirements. Its position as Scotland’s accredited system integrator for Pilz PSS Safety PLCs is a significant asset in this field.

ELiTE has also demonstrated its expertise in the cost-effective local modification and improvement of large, originally imported systems.

Paper-making differs in critical ways from other manufacturing activities — from the physical size of much of the machinery to the engineering concepts involved — and the value of ELiTE’s specialist skills and knowledge in this sector, together with its wider cross-sector experience, has been amply proven. Manufacturing

Scotland’s manufacturing sector has faced harsh challenges in recent times, and ELiTE has worked hard with a diverse range of manufacturing clients to increase their competitiveness and maximise their potential.

This has been achieved through the provision of sophisticated control and monitoring systems along with various technical and support services, including call out support and training. Power & Utilities

ELiTE entered the power and utilities sector in a consulting role, undertaking plant and feasibility studies at sites such as the Torness Power Station. The company moved into project work for Scottish Power and won one of the first major outsourcing contracts awarded by ScottishPower to provide engineers on site full time.

ELiTE’s experience here is now UK-wide, with clients’ interests ranging from nuclear energy to wind power generation. Work for UKAEA at Dounreay has included specification and reports writing, feasibility studies, standards definition and other issues to standard industry formats. Top of page...

Pharmaceuticals

Electronics

ELiTE’s involvement with the electronic industry dates back to 1992 through its expertise in safety systems relating to toxic gas handling. From initial work for National Semiconductor, ELiTE has expanded and diversified its work in this sector, both in the UK and overseas. The industry uses some highly toxic materials, and safety is a paramount priority.
